Character Design Course

Creating an original character from merchandise concept
In character design course, students will study techniques to create characters that will be popular in a wide area. Character designers have high needs not only in animation and game industries, but also in publishers and company PR. In our school, students will aim to develop as brand of companies and products, and productize their character designs from while in school. They will do so as they learn techniques, expression skills, and imagination skills necessary for character designing, from professionals actually active in front lines.
Acquiring illustration skills in order to be able to draw anything
Students will study basics such as drawing techniques and knowledge of illustrating materials, in order to enrich expression of their works. Then, they will cultivate skills applicable in advertisement and editing design fields. They will do so by studying graphic basics, higher drawing techniques, and digital drawing skills.
Aiming to debut while in school by studying producing techniques
Students will study producing techniques such as planning and producing of characters. They will aim to develop their characters filled with originality, which have been created under the guidance of experienced professionals, in to company and product brands, and to productization before and after graduation.

Future Courses of Graduates

Character Designer
This is the occupation that creates “characters” itself, which becomes the center of character business which is vigorous today. Ability to grasp trend and marketing skills are essential, together with imagination to create new characters.
Illustrator
The key is to bring out originality while understanding client needs in illustrating posters, magazines covers, illustrations, calendars, etc.
Graphic Designer
A creator who mainly plans and produces publications. There are many fields to widen appeal, such as advertisements, magazines, pamphlets and posters, and designing DVD and CD jackets.
Editorial Designer
A designer who specifically specializes in editing layout. Digital techniques will be essential, for most work will be done on PC.
